terms of Use

1. About these Terms
These Terms & Conditions (the "Terms") govern your access to and use of the QORO mobile application, website and related services (together, "QORO" or the "Service"). The Service is operated by QORO Ltd ("QORO", "we", "us" or "our").
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Community Guidelines. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not create an account or use the Service.
Nothing in these Terms affects any rights you have under applicable consumer law that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
2. Who we are and how to contact us
This website is operated by:
Legal entity: QORO Ltd
Company number: 16635582
Registered office: 124-128 City Road, London, England, EC1V 2NX
3. What QORO is
QORO is a platform that helps people and organisations create, discover and participate in real-world Socials across the networks and communities they are part of.
The beta supports two account types: Regular User accounts and Connector accounts. A Connector may represent a university, society, department, organisation, community or other approved entity or person operating a network on QORO.
Unless QORO is expressly shown as a creator or co-creator of a Social through its own Connector account, QORO provides the technology but does not organise, supervise or control that Social. Where QORO is shown as a creator or co-creator, QORO accepts the responsibilities that apply to that role.
4. Beta status
The Service is currently in beta. We are testing and improving it. Features may change, be limited, become temporarily unavailable, require updates or be removed during the beta.
We will act reasonably in operating the beta and will communicate material changes where appropriate. Beta status does not remove QORO's legal responsibilities or your statutory rights.
5. Eligibility
You may use QORO only if:
you are at least 18 years old;
you have legal capacity to enter into these Terms;
you are using an email address approved for the beta where approval is required;
the information you provide is accurate and not misleading; and
you are not prohibited from using the Service under applicable law.
The beta currently uses an 18+ App Store rating and an age declaration during onboarding. QORO may restrict, suspend or delete an account if we reasonably believe the account belongs to someone under 18.
6. Accounts and authentication
Access to the beta is authenticated using a one-time password sent to an approved email address. You are responsible for keeping your email account, device and access credentials secure and for all activity carried out through your account unless the activity results from QORO's failure to use reasonable care.
Do not share access codes or allow another person to use your account.
Tell us promptly if you believe your account or email has been compromised.
Do not create a false account, impersonate another person or misrepresent an affiliation.
Use a chosen name that does not impersonate or mislead others.
7. Connector accounts
Connector accounts are available only to people or organisations approved by QORO. By creating or operating a Connector account, you confirm that:
you are authorised to represent the named university, society, department, organisation, community or other entity;
all information you provide about the Connector is accurate and kept up to date;
you will not imply endorsement, ownership or authority that you do not have;
you will use member information only to operate the relevant Connector, membership or Social through QORO; and
you will comply with applicable law, venue requirements and the Community Guidelines.
QORO may ask for evidence of identity, authority, affiliation or location. We may refuse, restrict, suspend, rename or remove a Connector account that is misleading, unauthorised, unsafe or otherwise inconsistent with these Terms.
8. Memberships
A Regular User or Connector may request membership of a Connector. During beta, the Connector manually approves or rejects membership requests.
A person may belong to more than one Connector.
A Connector may remove a member from its own membership.
A Connector may view and manage its own membership requests and member list.
Connectors do not receive a user's full personal attendance history and receive only aggregate analytics where analytics are provided.
Removal from a membership may also remove access to related messaging features.
Membership on QORO does not create employment, agency, partnership, formal enrolment or any other legal relationship unless separately agreed outside QORO.
9. Profiles, connections and visibility
Profiles and Social activity are visible according to the product's current visibility rules. You are responsible for the information and media you choose to publish.
Regular User profiles may include a photo, chosen name, tagline, Socials, connections and Connectors.
Connected users may see a wider connections list; other users may see mutual connections only.
Social visibility on a profile remains subject to the Social's own privacy setting.
Connector profiles may include cover images, profile information, website, approved physical location, members, followers and Social activity.
A connection on QORO does not imply endorsement, trustworthiness or any particular relationship outside the Service.
10. Socials
A "Social" is a real-world gathering created through QORO. Socials may be created by Regular Users, Connectors or QORO through its own Connector account.
10.1 Creator and co-creator responsibilities
The original creator has the highest level of control over the Social. Co-creators share responsibility for the content, decisions and conduct they contribute to.
Provide accurate and complete information about the Social, including date, time, location, access conditions, capacity and any relevant risks.
Do not create a misleading, unlawful, unsafe or fraudulent Social.
Obtain any permission required from a venue, landowner, institution or other responsible party.
Comply with applicable laws, licensing rules, venue rules, capacity limits and health and safety requirements.
Set and manage visibility responsibly.
Treat invitees and attendees fairly and consistently.
Monitor and update material changes promptly.
Be present or arrange responsible oversight where the nature of the Social reasonably requires it.
Creators and co-creators may manage or cancel a Social where the product permits. The original creator may remove a co-creator. Creators and co-creators should coordinate before making material changes or cancelling.
10.2 Managing attendance
Creators may approve, reject or remove attendees where the product permits.
They must not make decisions unlawfully or in a discriminatory, retaliatory or misleading way.
Removal from a Social may also remove access to related messaging features.
A place shown as available is not guaranteed until participation is confirmed through the Service.
10.3 Public and private Socials
A public Social may be discoverable beyond its linked Connector and may show the Social, creator and co-creators, linked Connectors, location information and attendance count.
A public Social may still restrict joining to members, invitees or another defined group.
A private Social is visible only to its creators, co-creators, invited users and authorised QORO staff where access is required.
A private link does not itself give access. A person must be added as an invitee.
Do not share or attempt to bypass a private Social's access restrictions.
10.4 Cancellation and changes
Creators and co-creators may cancel or materially change a Social. Where practical, they should give attendees reasonable notice. QORO may cancel, remove or restrict a Social where we reasonably believe it is unlawful, unsafe, misleading, impossible to operate, in breach of these Terms or likely to harm users, venues or the Service.
11. Real-world participation and safety
Real-world participation involves risks that cannot be eliminated by a digital platform. QORO does not supervise every Social and does not guarantee the identity, conduct, suitability, safety or reliability of every user, Connector, venue or Social.
When deciding whether to create, join or remain at a Social, you must:
use reasonable judgement and consider whether the Social, people and venue are suitable for you;
follow local law, venue rules and reasonable instructions from authorised staff;
respect consent, personal boundaries, property and the surrounding community;
leave if you feel unsafe; and
contact emergency services where there is an immediate danger or emergency rather than relying only on QORO's reporting tools.
QORO remains responsible for operating the Service with reasonable care, responding to reports in accordance with our processes and taking reasonable action where we become aware of credible safety concerns.
12. Chats
Where chat features are enabled, QORO may provide messaging functionality within the Service.
You must not use chats for harassment, threats, discrimination, scams, spam, illegal activity or unauthorised advertising.
QORO does not routinely monitor chats. Where content is reported, authorised staff may review the reported content and relevant context where reasonably necessary for safety, moderation, technical support, legal compliance or dispute resolution.
Deleted messages may be retained temporarily where reasonably necessary for safety, moderation or legal reasons.
13. Content you provide
You retain ownership of content you create and upload, including profile information, photos, Social details and messages.
By providing content to QORO, you grant QORO a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, transferable and sublicensable licence to host, store, reproduce, format, display, communicate and distribute that content only as reasonably necessary to:
operate, secure and improve the Service;
display the content to authorised users according to your settings and the product rules;
moderate, investigate and enforce these Terms and the Community Guidelines;
create backups and provide technical support; and
promote a public Social or public Connector within QORO and through ordinary QORO communications where the product context makes that use reasonably expected.
QORO will not use a Regular User's private content or private Social content in external advertising or social-media marketing without separate permission, unless the content has been independently made public by that user and the use is otherwise lawful.
You confirm that:
you own the content or have the rights and permissions needed to provide it;
the content does not infringe another person's intellectual property, privacy or other rights;
the content is accurate where it makes factual claims about a Social, Connector or person; and
the content complies with these Terms and the Community Guidelines.
14. Prohibited conduct
You must not:
use QORO unlawfully, fraudulently or to facilitate harm;
harass, threaten, stalk, intimidate, discriminate against or exploit another person;
post hate speech, violent threats, sexually exploitative content or unlawful content;
impersonate another person or misrepresent authority, affiliation, identity or access;
create fake Socials, fake engagement, misleading attendance or deceptive promotions;
scrape, harvest, export or misuse personal data;
send spam, unauthorised advertising or mass outreach;
interfere with the Service, bypass access controls, reverse engineer the app or probe for vulnerabilities without written authorisation;
upload malware or use automated tools in a way that burdens or damages the Service;
attempt to gain access to a private Social, profile, chat or Connector without permission;
use another person's content, name, image or information without an appropriate legal basis; or
encourage or help another person to do any of the above.
15. Reporting, blocking and moderation
Users may report users, Connectors and Socials and may block other accounts. Reporting is not an emergency service.
QORO may, where reasonably necessary:
review reported content and relevant context;
request additional information from the reporter or reported person;
remove or restrict content;
cancel or restrict a Social;
remove a member or attendee;
limit features or visibility;
issue a warning;
temporarily suspend an account; or
permanently terminate an account.
We may act without prior notice in serious or urgent cases, including credible risks to safety, fraud, illegal activity, underage use, repeated misconduct or threats to the Service.
16. Suspension, termination and appeals
We may restrict, suspend or terminate your account if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms or the Community Guidelines, created a safety or legal risk, misrepresented a Connector, interfered with the Service or repeatedly harmed the QORO community.
Where appropriate, we will explain the reason. We may withhold details where disclosure could create a safety, privacy, security or legal risk.
You may request an internal review by contacting support@joinqoro.com. QORO will consider the information reasonably available and may uphold, vary or reverse the decision. The outcome of that internal review is final within QORO, without affecting any external rights you may have.
17. Deactivation and deletion
You can permanently delete your QORO account directly through the app.
Once you confirm deletion, your account is permanently deleted and cannot be restored.
Your active profile information, email and relationships are deleted or de-identified, except where limited information must be retained for safety, legal, regulatory or technical reasons.
Upcoming Socials created solely by your account are cancelled.
You are removed from upcoming Socials you joined or were invited to.
Past Social records may remain with your identity replaced by “Deleted Account” where needed to preserve legitimate historical records.
Where messaging features are enabled, shared content may remain under an anonymised identity where reasonably necessary for safety, moderation, disputes or legal compliance.
Reports, moderation records, legal records and limited technical logs may be retained where reasonably necessary.
Residual copies may remain temporarily in protected backups until the backup cycle expires.
Deletion does not remove obligations, liabilities or rights that arose before deletion.
18. QORO intellectual property
QORO and its licensors own the Service, software, design system, branding, logos, trade marks, databases and other intellectual property, excluding user content.
We give you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Service in accordance with these Terms. You may not copy, reproduce, sell, license, reverse engineer, extract or commercially exploit the Service except where the law expressly permits it.
19. Third-party services and links
QORO may rely on third-party services or link to external websites, maps, venues, app stores or other services. Their own terms and privacy policies apply. QORO is not responsible for third-party services that we do not control, but this does not exclude any responsibility QORO has for the way we select, integrate or use them.
20. Availability, updates and changes
We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free availability. We may perform maintenance, issue required updates, impose reasonable limits or change features during the beta.
Where a change materially affects your rights or use of the Service, we will provide reasonable notice where practicable. If you do not accept a material change, you may stop using QORO and delete your account.
We may discontinue all or part of the beta. Where reasonably possible, we will give advance notice and provide a reasonable opportunity to retrieve information that the product allows you to export.
21. Our responsibility to you
QORO will provide the Service with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful.
In particular, we do not exclude or limit liability for:
death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
breach of rights that cannot be excluded under consumer law; or
any other liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
Subject to the paragraph above, QORO is not responsible for loss or damage that was not reasonably foreseeable when you accepted these Terms, or that results from circumstances outside QORO's reasonable control.
QORO is not responsible for the conduct of users, Connectors, creators, co-creators, attendees, venues or third parties except to the extent the loss or damage results from QORO's own breach of contract, negligence or other legal responsibility.
If you use QORO for business purposes, any separate written agreement between QORO and your organisation may contain additional terms. Nothing in these consumer-facing Terms limits liability in a way prohibited by applicable law.
22. Your responsibility to us
You are responsible for losses QORO reasonably suffers as a direct result of your deliberate or negligent breach of these Terms, your unlawful conduct or your infringement of another person's rights.
We will take reasonable steps to reduce avoidable losses. This clause does not require a consumer to compensate QORO for losses that are remote, unforeseeable, caused by QORO or otherwise unfair under applicable law.
23. Complaints and disputes
Please contact support@joinqoro.com first so we can try to resolve a complaint. Nothing in these Terms prevents you from using any statutory complaint, consumer-protection or court process available to you.
24. Governing law and courts
These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer resident in the United Kingdom, you may bring proceedings in the courts of the part of the UK where you live. If you are not a consumer, the courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction unless a separate written agreement states otherwise.
25. General terms
If a court finds part of these Terms unlawful or unenforceable, the rest will continue to apply.
A delay by QORO in enforcing a right does not waive that right.
You may not transfer your account or rights under these Terms without QORO's written permission.
QORO may transfer its rights and obligations to another organisation, provided this does not reduce your rights. We will notify you where required.
These Terms, the Community Guidelines and any additional terms clearly presented for a specific feature form the agreement between you and QORO for the Service.
26. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect changes to QORO, our legal obligations or the way the beta operates. We will publish the updated version and change the "Last updated" date. Where a change materially affects users, we will give additional notice where reasonably practicable.
Continuing to use QORO after the change takes effect means the updated Terms apply. This does not make an unfair or unlawful term binding.
